What should your scalp
micropigmentation quote include?

Ask for a written quote with the treatment area, expected visits and everything the quoted amount covers. Keep it alongside the artist's healed-work portfolio.

01

The exact area and intended look

Hairline work, a full shaved-look treatment and density between existing hairs aren't interchangeable scopes. Describe the areas you want treated and confirm whether previous pigment or scars change the plan.

02

The session count and what happens if it changes

A three-session example helps with arithmetic; it doesn't prescribe a plan. Ask what would lead to an extra session, who decides and how that additional work would be charged.

03

Deposits, cancellation and payment terms

Confirm the currency, payment method and when the balance is due. Get the refund and rescheduling conditions before paying a deposit or reserving nonrefundable travel.

04

Follow-up, aftercare and later touch-ups

Ask who checks the healed result and whether that review is included. Future maintenance is a separate question: request the clinic's current touch-up terms rather than assuming the original price covers it.

Why SMP quotes differ

Clinics may charge by session or quote a treatment total. The work also varies: recreating a shaved hairline, reducing contrast through longer hair and working over a scar require different assessments. Your existing pigment, if any, needs to be considered before more is added.

Location affects the practical cost of reaching the provider. Even within the US, a clinic in another state might require several trips. In Colombia, a lower session price needs to be weighed against your appointment schedule, accommodation and arrangements if you need a later review.

SAME CURRENCY. SAME SCOPE.

Compare the complete plan
before comparing the saving.

Request the same level of detail from both providers. A quote without a defined scope won't tell you which option costs less for your case.

What does traveling for SMP add?

Budget for the required stay, not just the appointment day. Ask the practitioner how much time they want between sessions and whether all visits can be arranged within one trip. Don't infer a safe schedule from someone else's photos or travel story.

Your own budget should include airfare, hotel nights and transport between the airport, accommodation and the studio in Itagüí. Ask about communication after you return home and how the clinic would handle a complication or a follow-up that needs an in-person visit.

We haven't included a flight or hotel estimate because your dates and departure city change those costs. The calculator above uses the amount you enter. It begins with a zero-dollar travel budget so you can see exactly what still needs to be added.

Price and clinical suitability
are separate questions.

SMP is cosmetic tattooing, with infection, allergy and removal risks described by the FDA. A low quote doesn't establish that the treatment suits your scalp. Discuss your hair loss with a dermatologist and the cosmetic plan with the practitioner. [1, 2]
